Jay-Z Speaks On Last Conversation With Kobe Bryant On New Year

Jay-Z Remembers Celebrating New Year With The Late NBA Legend and engaging in a conversation about Gianna Bryant who passed away with her father in a helicopter crash.

Jay-Z has opened up on his last conversation with the late NBA star Kobe Bryant, before the basketball star died in a helicopter crash in January 2020.

The NBA (National Basketball Association) legend was one of nine people killed in the incident – alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, who was also a talented basketball player.

Speaking during an address at Columbia University on Tuesday, February 4, Jay-Z revealed one of the last conversations he had with Kobe, after they celebrated New Year’s together at his and wife Beyonce’ house.

Jay-z Said: “He was just in the greatest space that I’ve seen him in,” Jay said, in a clip shared by his Roc Nation company.

“One of the last things he said to me was, ‘You’ve gotta see Gianna play basketball,’ ” the rapper recalled. “And that was one of the most hurtful things, because he was so proud. And the look on his face was like – I looked at him and said, ‘Oh, she’s going to be the best female basketball player in the world.’ “

“He was just so proud,” Jay continued. “So that’s really a tough one.”

The “Run This Town” star added that he and Beyonce were greatly affected by the death of Kobe and Gianna, confessing the “Formation” hitmaker took the news “really tough.”

“(He was) just a great human being and was in a great space in his life,”.
